Project Overview:

Our client wanted to turn their outdated small basement area into a mancave for the gentleman of the home. He wanted a place where he could hang out and watch sports as well as entertain friends.

We started by choosing a color palette of bronze, black and tan to create a warm and masculine vibe. The wallpaper in the ceiling has a minimalistic dotted design that creates a color blocking display from the Caviar black painted walls. The seating is transitional and oversized to provide maximum seating and has hand beaded motif pillows for comfortable lounging. For additional seating a barrel designed swivel accent chair wrapped in metal and velvet chocolate fabric sits to the side of the room.

We also added a group of bunching tables at different heights with a bronze base along with a round Latte ottoman to create a grouping component for feet and surface placed items. The artwork throughout is from a local artist collection. Each piece has a hand embellished technique and colors that are earth tones, they were hung throughout the space.

To the back of the room, we added a metallic antique silver washed floating cabinet that sits under the television. This cabinet houses the media equipment that supports functionality for two TV’s. Not far from the TV are two mirrors stacked to add a reflection that makes the room appear larger. Across from the mirrors are two art pieces from the local artist that highlight the rooms color palette.

For lighting, three wall sconces are attached to the wall behind the sectional and placed between the large sized artwork to illuminate the art. They also provide nice task lighting for guest seating on the sectionals. A floor lamp sits next to the barrel accent chair. New wood floors were installed, and an amazingly designed area rug anchors all the furniture items. The rug offers a striking graphic pattern in gold and black hues and makes a bold statement for the room.

Down the hall we chose to paint the exterior sides of all the existing doors in Caviar Black and added tiered styled gold wall sconces. This hallway leads to an area that is now the bar area for the mancave that’s houses ample storage, glass shelves and a beverage center. The bar has a beautiful marble top that was cut appropriately to fit the custom display. Across from the bar is a faux wall that meets the stairs and has a 3d cut out lined design. The color of this wall is painted metallic gold and an eggshell black paint. This component mimics the colors used throughout the staircase area and mancave. The ceiling on the stairwell has a graphic design that looks like the interior of a tree bark. A shallow disc gold leaf wall sconce is attached to the wall to illuminate the staircase and wallpapered ceiling. Artwork that reminded the client of her childhood was placed on the walls. To finish the moody masculine mancave quality accessories were added.
