Project Overview:

Our clients wanted their family room to be warm and inviting, a place to gather and entertain, and they wanted to maintain the view of the lake.

This room is long and narrow so first we determined a layout that would give the maximum amount of seating. Opposite the fireplace is a built-in bar area with floating shelves, again decreasing the width of this room. So, we chose to use a sofa and a pair of chairs for the main seating. A pair of wooden benches were added for more seating. Also, a console table was placed behind the sofa with three counter stools rounding out seating for ten.

We created a space that was warm and eclectic. A crème neutral fabric was chosen for the sofa. For the open-back wood chair, we chose a geometrical fabric with shades of gold, tan, crème gray, and black to add pop to the space. A swivel chair in a gold textural fabric completes the seating. The coffee and end tables add a woven texture to the room, playing off the wood block countertops. A black, round end table grounds one side of the room. An entertainment cabinet was chosen with bamboo doors giving a mid-century vibe. The modern art hung above the cabinet and accessories give an ethnic flare. A textural rug anchors the seating area. For the windows, we chose drapery panels to frame the view. Crème linen-look fabric was selected and accented with black linen and hung from slim decorative rods.
