Our homeowner had just purchased a 1970’s split level, Craftsman style home. She wanted to update it to a stylish contemporary space for family and entertaining friends. The challenges were the ceilings that are incredibly tall and angular, and the walls were all wood paneling and outdated.
To create a stylish contemporary look we first started by painting the walls in a neutral color. We also added long wired LED lights alongside the ceiling beams. A large cream oversized circular sectional was added and flanked with two metal gray accent chairs for seating. We added a sculptured area rug in orange, grays, and golds for a pop of color to A large round glass cocktail table and end table helped to complete the seating arrangement. We then chose window treatments in cream and gray geometric fabric. The window treatment was mounted at the top of the ceiling with a box pleat panel design mounted on a board. The plan helped to marry the two odd shaped windows together. To complete the look we added colorful pillows to the sectional in orange, gray and yellows. The bold accessories in the large orange vase and the gymnast sculpture help to complete the stylish contemporary family room.
