Modern Farmhouse

Our clients’ kitchen was dated and storage was limited. A separate dining room was not functional and needed to be opened to the kitchen.

Project Overview:

To maximize the flow of the kitchen, the wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed. To save money, the existing cabinets were kept and painted in fresh white paint. The bottom of the cabinets were finished with new trim to give a custom look. The existing cornice over the sink window was removed. We designed a huge 10 feet island in the center of the new kitchen, which provides seating and extra storage. A peacock blue was chosen to paint the island and used for the ceramic subway tile.  Marble patterned tile was chosen to brighten the floor and give an updated look. Granite countertops were chosen to reduce costs but still gave a stylish look.

For the dining area, a modern farmhouse style was chosen. The client had an heirloom bench which she wanted to use in the space. The bench was recovered in a teal tweed fabric and accented with blue pillows. For the kitchen windows, roman shades were fabricated from an azure blue fabric. Panels were made from a geometrical embroidered fabric of cream and blue for the dining room. A crystal chandelier with clear glass and chrome was hung over the table. Bell shaped glass pendants with chrome accents were hung over the new island.

Counter stools in a teal tweed fabric accented with nickel nail heads were chosen for the island. An abstract painting was chosen for the area near the table to add more soft colors to the space. Accessories complete the look.
