Family Entertaining

Our challenge here was to create an inviting modern family room from a very tall empty space. The client also wanted a lot of seating to accommodate his large family.

Location: Atlanta, GA

Designer Credits: Barbara Elliott and Jennifer Ward-Woods

Project Overview:

Barbara and Jennifer started with the floor plan to design a sectional to accommodate as many family members and guests as possible. Afterward, a pair of swivel chairs were selected to provide an open option. We then selected round-end tables and a coffee table to complete the seating. We pulled the blue from the adjacent dining room for the color palette and added gray and cream.

We chose a deep sectional with stainless steel legs and covered in a navy velvet fabric for the sectional. We chose a pair of swivel chairs with a unique design – the outer back is a carved wood frame covered in sheets of German silver. We chose grey velvet for the inner back and seats.

Canvas art is hung above the TV wall, and a trio of the same art is hung up the staircase. We hung panels from a gold-tone rod with square crystal finials for the windows. Woven fabric with shades of white and gray was chosen for the window treatments.

To give drama and a modern feel, we replaced the ceiling fan with a 71” round chandelier (The Halo) with crystals and clear lights.
