Transformed Blue Bedroom
Design Challenges
The bedroom was a good size, however the previous layout had the bed cramped on the wall as you entered the room. The room felt traditional, and the clients wanted a modern look.
A Design Transformation
The first step in transforming this room was to create a focal point. To accomplish this, a bold geometric wallpaper in navy and silver was chosen to be the backdrop to a tall, upholstered bed. The bed was moved to the larger wall, creating a grand look when you entered the room.
For the bedding a coverlet in a silver fabric accented with a nail head trim is paired with euros in a navy velvet fabric with a geometric pattern. Shams are fabricated from a light gray fabric and a navy pattern complete the bedding.
Large scale nightstands in maple finished in a high sheen white lacquer and stainless-steel frame gives the modern edge to the room. The table lamps have a fresh contemporary look with crystal blocks separated with polished nickel-plated accents.
The draperies are silk panels in gray silk with inserts of navy silk finished with a decorative tape. To finish the windows, decorative hardware in chrome and finial with crystal accents complete the look. A new 24 light circular chandelier in clear cut crystal to accent the decorative ceiling continues the modern theme.
A large-scale bench was chosen with an accent chair to provide seating in the modern suite. An eye-catching oil canvas hangs between the windows and an art shadow box hangs above the dresser. Simple accessories complete the look. A rug in an abstract acid wash design anchors the space.
